Walking back to the church from the Settlement Part 3

We have all decided that the walk back to the church property on this road is longer than the walk to the settlement.  I have clocked it- it is 20 minutes both ways!  But it just seems longer because you cannot see the destination for a loooooonnnngggg time.  Here is what it looks like for a long time.

And then, eventually you come to the fork in the road- the road you take if you have a car to the highway, but if you are walking (and aren't afraid of the snakes) you take the shortcut (which I too.)k with the children on the beginning of this journey.

This is what the road looks like to the highway.  If you look very carefully there is the train tracks ahead- a whiter spot in the distance.  There are actually two houses/yards on this road on the right side.

Ah we begin to see the church grounds.  Ahead is the old parsonage.  They looked at fixing it up for me but decided it needed too much work- a new roof, electricity, walls replaced, indoor toilet added.  I am thankful that Garrett volunteered to loan his house.

The gate and the cattle gate.  The old church building built in 1935 and retired in 1975 is on the left.  It started out as the sanctuary and the first school house in the area.

The cattle gate does not work to keep the cows in when there is a severe drought.  All but the two oldest kept getting out and we could not find the break in the fence where they were escaping from the property.  Turned out they were jumping the cattle gate.  Wish I had seen that!
