To get to the other school we walk back down the road we just came up. Then pass Garrett and Helga's house in the center of the settlement, Auntie Joey's, the sewing project, the clinic, cross the railroad tracks and pass the Roadhouse. The Roadhouse and the highway are behind us to the left and this is the road to the "Location."
Up ahead are the new homes in the Location. We are paralleling the railroad tracks for a while (on the right). Then the tracks go off to the right around the Location and continue northeast toward Otjiwarango.
I think I counted thirty two houses in this new development.
The sun doesn't do justice to the homes- they are painted pretty bright pastel colors.
Now we are heading toward the older part of the Location.
This is what the ground looks like in most of Kalkfeld- under about two inches of sandy soil is very hard bedrock.
